About My Interest in Psychology
The field of Psychology that peak my interest is the Health Psychology because in this field of study they focus on the how behavior, biology and social context influence illness and health. on average the psychologists as of May 2015, the median annual salary for clinical, counseling and school psychologists was $70,580 per year. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual salaries earned by psychologists in various professions ranged from between $59,910 to $94,590.
While a doctorate degree is usually required in order to become a licensed health psychologist, there are some employment opportunities for those with a bachelor's degree or master's degree. Employment at the bachelor's level is limited, but some find work in community mental health offices or correctional facilities.

Dennis C. Roberts, Psy.D., Aimee Racz, MD , Charles Willis, MD just to name a few.

I am very passionate about this branch of Psychology because my little brother has Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), which in everyday terms means that he isn't as mentally mature as others his age. It took many years to help him understand what was wrong with him. We had to fight to get his family care doctor to run the tests to find out what exactly was wrong with him. Once we did, he started seeing his therapist and now is doing 100 times better the n when we started this whole thing. I know it takes a very special person to handle children with this disorder so I have a very compassionate heart when it comes to this study of Psychology and I am so thankful for the people who choose to go into this branch of it because not many people can handle to see children with mental handicap but it takes an even stronger person to help the children to become as normal as possible.
I can only imagine what your family went through it must have been frustrating for your brother. I am so happy your family fought for him to be tested, many children go undiagnosed which hinders the child from excelling socially, emotionally, intellectually, etc. I cannot agree with you more, Psychology is a much-respected field because you are right not many people can handle this field it takes a strong, patient, kind, and understanding person.
ReplyDeleteThats a beautiful testimony of your brother. You are right it takes a special person to work with children when they have these issues. My son has ADD and some teachers could not work with him as they didn't understand nor wanted to but God has made him unique and it has made me stronger helping him through it. Hope your brother is doing well! God has a plan for him!
